Daylesford Abbey celebrates the opening of its 36th Annual Art Show. The 2008 featured artist will be Susan von Medicus, internationally renowned iconographer, faculty member at Princeton Theological Seminary and Fort Washington resident. Ms. von Medicus will be making a presentation of her work during the opening artists reception. Among the many well known artists participating in the exhibit are Jean Uhl Spiecer, AWS, a watercolor artist, Havertown resident and author of "Bright and Beautiful Flowers in Watercolor". James Huntsberger, famous for his Brandywine Valley scenes, and author of "Our Brandywine". Joseph Finisdore, sculptor and Haverford resident, and noted Russian glassmaker Leon Milmeyster.
Opening Reception will be held at Daylesford Abbey, 220 So. Valley Rd., Paoli, PA on March 29th at 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM(ticket required) and the Show will be open to the public March 30th through April 13th, 2008, 1:00 to 4:00 PM daily and until 8:00 PM Fridays, free admission.

The internationally renowned iconographer Susan Kelly vonMedicus will be the featured artist at the 36th Annual Daylesford Art Show.
Ms. vonMedicus, a gifted artist, will be exhibiting exquisite icons prepared in the medieval manner, using gold leaf on red clay and egg tempera on a wood panel. Her icons, depicting inspiring scenes from the Old and New Testaments, have been commissioned both locally and internationally. VonMedicus’ work can be seen in churches in Ireland and England as well as at Daylesford Abbey, St. Martins-in-the-Fields, and St. Malachy in Philadelphia. Her icons grace chapels at LaSalle, Holy Family, and Villanova universities as well as Merion Mercy Academy. Three of her icons, featuring St. John the Baptist, Christ the Teacher, and St. Devote are part of the art collection of the Royal Household of Monaco and hang in the private family chapel.
Susan Kelly vonMedicus, a Fort Washington resident, hails from the famous Philadelphia Kelly family and has deep ties to our community. She is on the faculty of Prosopon School of Iconology and at Princeton Theological Seminary.
